So one of my clients - affectionately known as Warrior Chick - requested a new commission: something to partner with her already healthy collection of hand-made baubles, utilizing the 6 small diamonds that we had set aside from a pair of earrings that her mother had left to her.  Then this happened…

And it’s a launch, folks!

tumblrbot asked: WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?

Processing and getting through to the other side of whatever put me in that bad mood…or then again, there’s always a little Beastie Boy-ism that never fails: “a good mixed tape will put you in the right mood.”

We live in our minds and existence is the attempt to bring that life into physical reality, to state it in gesture and in form.

A commissioned ring re-build using existing silver + gold.  My client delivered a little parcel of goods to me, hoping to salvage some of her mother’s old jewelry to bring life to a new piece.  She’s a bit of a warrior chick that I’ve known since I was a teenager (she was my little sister’s BFF for a handful of years back then), and her mother was a super cool woman who once tossed me the keys to her Camaro equipped with an unbelievable sound system (I was 16!), and I just cruised around the neighborhood listening to Jackson Browne’s “The Road” about a million times.  Regretfully, her mother is no longer with us, but I hope this little re-make serves as a decent tribute and wearable piece for her lovely daughter…Cheers!

Always last to the technology party, I’ve finally figured out how to add multiple photos!  Thus ends my little narrative entitled “My dog ate this ring.”  Come to think of it, Steve was right: It works much better as a pendant, and I learned to make a new signature chain!

My dog ate this ring…seriously.  He’s only a puppy and, at first, I thought that I had simply run over the darned thing with my task chair.  Alas, the soggy  polishing bag was a tell-tale sign that this was no ordinary human faux pas.  It was the blonde.  So with no quick alternative, I sawed the destroyed ring back off and cut + began forming some new potential links for a pendant piece.  Stay tuned…

The pendant is now completed!  The handmade chain is lightly oxidized sterling silver with a few solid 14K yellow gold links.  The total length is 32”, the last 8” is comprised of aqua apatite beads that terminate into the “sandal” trisha b. signature tag (which hangs down the back if she wants to wear it at the 24” length).  As you can see, we decided to throw a lot more color into this lively piece by adding the long chalcedony drop charm in with the topaz and labradorite charms.  In addition, we added a few lovely green peridot drop briolettes + one deep green apatite drop briolette.

Chain all assembled.  I’ve added some seed gem charms (tiny apatites), but I’m not altogether sold on the idea.  Thinking that either gold-colored tourmalines or garnets might balance the project out a bit better…

Just finished elongating 105 O-rings that will be linked to the initial 4” of hand-made chain.  If my calculations are correct, I have made an ample supply of these guys to form them into a 24” chain.  I’ve even formed a few 14K gold links (because I’m loving mixed metals).  There will be an additional 8” added to the over all length so that the client has some versatility in how she wears this (24” or 32”).  Stay tuned…
